6 Brown Bag Lunches Your Family Will Smile About
Back to School amongst other things means back to making lunches! Day after day…and if your kids are anything like my husband, he will not eat peanut butter and grape jelly sandwiches to this day because he had his fill for a lifetime when he was in school.
Now while there’s no need to reinvent the wheel, we can redesign it.
How about turning your regular pb&j or lunch meat sandwiches into…kabobs or wraps?
The best thing is that you can use your dinner leftovers to make them too!
School officials frown upon toothpicks in your child’s lunch box (just trust me on this one) so use pretzel rods or lollipop sticks (easily found in your craft store baking/party supply aisles).
Here are a few simple recipes that you can easily put together for the lunches you have to prepare:
Recipe #1: Baked Potato Kabob
- Cube and bake potato
- Cube baked chicken
- Broccoli florets
- Cubed Cheddar cheese
- *Seasoned Sour Cream for dipping!
Recipe #2: Baked Sweet Potato Kabob
- Cube and bake a sweet potato
- Cube and bake an apple
- Cube baked pork tenderloin
- Cubed Smoked Cheese (Gouda, Chipotle)
Recipe #3: Pepperoni Pizza Kabob
- Turkey Pepperoni
- Cubed Mozzarella Cheese
- Basil
- Cubed Red Bell Pepper
- Fresh Baby Spinach
- *Don’t forget the marinara sauce for dipping!
Recipe #4: Hawaiian Pizza Kabob
- Canadian Bacon
- Cubed Colby Jack Cheese
- Pineapple Chunks
- Fresh Baby Spinach
Also, sometimes you may need to prep by perforating with a pointed stick so the cubes don’t split in half while pushing the blunt lollipop stick through.
Recipe #5: Cobb Salad Wrap
- Chopped Salad Greens of choice
- Chopped Boiled Eggs
- Shredded Carrots
- Chopped Seeded Cucumbers
- Chopped Smoked Turkey
- Grated Cheese of choice
- Spread Ranch Dressing onto Flat Out wrap
- Combine ingredients, spread on flat out, wrap and roll!
You can use Flat Out Breads or Tortillas, whichever you prefer to make your wraps.
Just fill the center, turn the sides inward and roll!
Recipe #6: Taco Salad Wrap
- Chopped Salad Greens of choice
- Corn
- Black Beans
- Chopped Tomatoes
- Taco Seasoned Ground Meat
- Grated Cheddar Cheese
- Spread Taco Sauce on Tortilla
- Combine ingredients, spread on tortilla, wrap and roll!
