Best Mom Beach Bag For Summer
I don’t know about you but now that summer is here I’m ready to get out in the sun and sand ASAP. With 3 kids I find getting anywhere with the stuff that I need to be a bit overwhelming at times but in with a great mom beach bag for summer, you can conquer the chaos one outing at a time!
If you are a mom who goes to the beach, pool, or even on boats, here are some bags for you to consider! I did my best to mix up the price points and styles of this mom beach bag list.
Mom Beach Bag Considerations
If you are reading this you are probably on the hunt for a mom beach bag that can get you through the season and hopefully through several beach seasons.
Over the years I’ve bought some really cheap beach bags and some really amazing bags and here are some things to consider as you shop. In this post I share a full list of ones that I love but before we dive into the mom beach bag list, I want to discuss a few important considerations.
1. Consider a Waterproof Mom Beach Bag
If you are going to the beach or are going to be around water, having a bag that doesn’t get gross and won’t also make your car smell like a wet dog is a plus. Find one that you can wipe down. All the items in my list below of mom beach bag recommendations are waterproof.
Frankly, I’ve owned the mesh bags and I just don’t get it. It gets filled with sand that then fills the car with sand and everything in the bag get’s messy. You won’t find those kinds of bags on my list below.
2. Consider the Shape of the Opening
Have you ever had a tote or a purse that had floppy sides where as soon as you had a hand on one side to straighten it the other side would fold in and obstruct your view. This can be REALLY frustrating when you mix sand, water, and impatient kids while you frantically search for wipes or a diaper or let’s face it— your mini bottle of wine.
I’ve learned that bags with a square or rectangular, reinforced opening make it much easier to find things, unpack, and pack up in a jiffy. I don’t find myself swearing into the bag either.
3. Consider Mom Beach Bag Pockets
Some beach bags are great even if they don’t have pockets because you can still organize them using wet bags. However, as a person who likes to have a spot for extra sunglasses, phones, keys, and other things I want to be able to locate fast, I really like my bags to have pockets so consider if that’s something you need or if you are okay with the internal organization with your own dividers or bags.
Hopefully, these notes have given you some food for thought as you approach your mom’s beach bag buying adventure. Here are some of my favorites you can get through Amazon!

Now this one is very much like the name brand one in appearance but it's about 1/3 of the cost. Be sure to check out the size description. This one also happens to be an Amazon Best Seller which is usually a good vote of confidence.
However with any kind of cheaper version of something that is name brand I try to glance through reviews just to make sure that this mom beach bag can stand up to the wear and tear of water, heat, and sand.

Vera Bradley Recycled Lighten Up Reactive Large Family Tote Bag, Morning Shells Blue
Last Mother's Day my husband ordered this fabulous bag for me. I really do love it! If you take a look at the image of this bag with the woman carrying it for the perspective it's HUGE (16inches high, 10 inches deep). It's made of recycled bottles and even though it pinches in to close, it opens with a square top!
Pros:
- Open Top
- Clip for Securing Top Closed
- Pockets inside & outside
- Waterproof
- Rectangular Opening
- Sturdy Construction (should last for years).
- Made from recycled bottles.
- Stowable (can be stowed away with soft sides).
Cons:
- Price Tag is bigger than most bags.
Stola Extra Large Utility Tote with Wire Frame
Before I had my Vera Bradley bag I had one of these extra-large utility tote style bags. I love that these are waterproof and I love that they have a square opening because it helps me find all my beach stuff with ease without the feeling of needing to swear. The sides won't fold in while you are rummaging and the open top gives you lots of room to add stuff!
Pros:
- Open Top
- Waterproof
- Rectangular Opening
- Sturdy Construction (should last for years).
- Great Price
- Pockets
Cons:
- Semi-stowable. Wire frame makes it smash but not still holds shape.
YETI Camino 35 Carryall with Internal Dividers, All-Purpose Utility Bag, Bimini Pink
Okay so I saved this bag for last because it may not be that "cute" but I have to say that the YETI products that I and my friends have owned live up to their price-tag.
I personally own the YETI Hopper Flip 12 Portable Soft Cooler and I take it to the beach and pool EVERY TIME but that's a cooler. This is their utility bag that should last for years to come!
Pros:
- Water-proof
- Puncture Proof
- Crossbar handle is a cool feature
- Shoulder straps
- Deployable dividers
Cons:
- Price
- Appearance may not be stylish enough for some
I hope you found your perfect mom beach bag tote!
